iKNOW Politics presented at the SADC Regional Roundtable on meeting the 50/50 target

From December 8-10 iKNOW Politics participated in the Roundtable on the Southern African Development Community Regional Strategy for achieving the 50/50 target of women in politics by 2015. The participation was generously facilitated and funded by International IDEA.
SADCThe purpose of the Roundtable was to develop a strategy for implementation of the SADC Declaration on Gender and Development which calls for 50/50 women’s representation by 2015. Over 100 Members of Parliament, representatives of Gender Ministries, and civil society members attended the conference. iKNOW Politics was presented at an evening reception along with the launch of International IDEA’s website on assessing the quality of democracy. iKNOW Politics also had a display table where participants could view the website. There was excellent response to the website, and one participant from Namibia started a discussion circle on the SADC 50/50 target, and a MP from Mauritius has already posted a reply in French.
