Congress state president Chandrabhan, of the ruling party, on Tuesday said the party lacked enough women leaders who could win elections in proportion to the 33% quota being sought for them through the women reservation bill pending before the Parliament.
Advocating quota for women in both houses of Parliament and state assemblies, the Congress president said political parties need not wait for the reservation bill to be passed, as nothing stopped them from distributing election tickets to as many women candidates.
