IRAQ: Quota set for Women in Iraqi elections

A decision was reached today that the Iraqi provincial elections law will contain a 25 percent quota for women.
Committee Chairperson Hashim al-Taai said: "The issue of the presidential revocation concerning women's quota in the provincial council elections law has been settled," Elections were originally scheduled for October, but due to delays in passing the provincial elections law they will now most likely take place in early 2009.To read the full article, please see the Middle East Times website.
