Park Geun-hye, who has been the front-runner in 2012 polling for more than a year, gained enormous strength for engineering a turnaround in the image of the conservative party and its electoral victory on Wednesday. But while a heavy favorite, she is far from assured of winning the presidential race in December.

The election swept 47 women into the 300-seat assembly, the most ever.
