Uneven Playing Field for Saudi Women in Local Elections?

Saudi women will have the chance for the first time next year to vote and run in the municipal elections, but they are possibly facing an uneven playing field.

The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs on Tuesday announced the rules and regulations related to the participation of women in the upcoming elections, emphasizing that “women have the right to contest the elections just like men without facing any discrimination,” according to a statement published on the ministry’s website.
