The Indian Women’s Caucus had activists and politicians weighing in on what’s stopping women from entering and succeeding in politics.

On Saturday, a number of women gathered at Cauvery Hall in Chalukya hotel in Bengaluru. The gathering was a unique one, and probably one of the largest coming together of women from various political and leadership backgrounds. Their agenda: to discuss what's stopping women from entering and succeeding in politics, and the way forward.

Abu Dhabi: As per the directives of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Emirati women's representation in the Federal National Council, FNC, will be increased to 50 per cent in the coming parliamentary term.

The step reflects the country's future approach aimed at achieving full empowerment of Emirati women and emphasises their pioneering and effective role in all vital sectors of the UAE.

United Nation Women and United Nations Development programme (UNDP) on Monday launched a programme guide to prevent violence against women in the 2019 general elections.

The launch which was organised by UN Women and UNDP took place in Abuja.

Ms Comfort Lamptey, UN Women Representative to Nigeria and ECOWAS, said that the launch included 16 days of activism to end violence against women and girls.

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Afghanistan has appointed its first woman to a senior post at the Interior Ministry, naming Hosna Jalil as deputy for policy and strategic affairs.

Following her appointment ceremony on Wednesday, Jalil said she relished the challenges of the job.

Afghan women have forged ahead since the 2001 collapse of the Taliban regime, which denied girls the right to go to school and women the right to work.
