UNDP is organizing a Regional Forum on Equal Participation in Decision-Making (November 15-17, Istanbul), with co-funding from the UNDP-Japan Women in Development Fund.

On June 12th Turkey will be holding parliamentary elections.  

At stake in this election:

550 seats in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (Turkiye Buyuk Millet Meclisi)

The so-called Davos Summit for women, the Global Summit of Women will take place in Istanbul with the participation of Emine Erdoğan, wife of the Turkish prime minister.

European Commission has announced the year 2010 as "European Year for Combating Poverty and Social Exclusion" and in this context various activities have been organized in European countries.

In the 2005 National Report on Millennium Development Goals, the Government of Turkey set the target for women’s representation as 17% in the parliament by 2015.
