8 March: Empowering stories of women of Turkmenistan

Beautiful, talented, successful and modest – the women of Turkmenistan achieve outstanding results but rarely talk about it. In honour of International Women’s Day, UNDP, UNFPA, and UNODC invited eight incredible women who are engaged in a variety of fields to talk about their lives, how they cope with daily difficulties and what advice they would give to younger women on how to achieve success.

Turkmenistan: Turkmenistan Hosts UN International Conference on Gender Issues

The event aims to approve obligations of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and will bring together over 100 government representatives, parliamentarians and experts on gender issues from the CIS countries and Turkey. The UNFPA reported that participants will discuss issues to develop and implement legislation in line with gender specificity, strategy to expand women's rights and opportunities, issues on gender rights and reproductive health.
