Parliament should move women's reservation bill in ongoing session, demand women bodies, India

Source:

The women's reservation bill which has been pending for over 17 years should be taken up for discussion in the ongoing monsoon session of the Parliament and be passed before the next general election, demanded women's groups across India on Tuesday.

The All India Democratic Women's Association (AIDWA) will observe demonstration and rallies across the city today to press this demand. The basis of the bill lies in the poor representation of women in state legislatures as well as the Parliament.

Hillary Clinton’s theme, pre-2016: Women who break barriers

Source:

Hillary Rodham Clinton took to a Toronto stage in June before about 5,000 supporters, many of them women and many looking for a hint that she might run for president in 2016 — and she gave them one.

“Hypothetically speaking, I really do hope that we have a woman president in my lifetime,” Clinton said coyly, making an implicit nod to the history she might make herself. “Our country,” she added, “has to take that leap of faith.”
