She said women in Parliament play a special role in making sure government implements policy promoting gender equality. Dlamini-Zuma bemoaned the lack of gender transformation, especially in the work-force.
"Even when we are employed, there is still discrimination at the workplace. Sometimes we earn less for the same work, or the work of the same value. And sometimes the conditions where we work is an environment that suits men."
Meanwhile, government confirmed at the gala dinner that all political parties would have to ensure that at least half of their representatives are women to be able to sit in Parliament after the next election.
