On September 2015, the UN Sustainable Development Summit approved 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in the context of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. SDG5 aims to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls by 2030. In particular, Target 5.5. aims to “Ensure women’s full and effective participation and equal opportunities for leadership at all levels of decision-making in political, economic and public life”.
