Two women parties to run for seats in Chechen parliament

Thursday 26 July was the last day for the election commission of the Chechen republic to receive documents from the parties participating in the upcoming parliamentary election in the republic.

Seventeen parties have nominated 793 candidates, which is a record figure for Chechen parliamentary elections, the chairman of the republican election commission, Ismail Baikhanov, told reporters on Thursday.

According to him, there are “residents of different Russian cities - Moscow, Tula, Tyumen, as well as North Caucasian regions” among the contenders. Two women parties take part in the parliamentary election for the first time.
