The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) is seeking to hire a Resident Director/Chief of Party (COP) to support a forthcoming community engagement program in South Sudan. A commitment of three years is expected for this position. This position is contingent upon the availability of funding for NDI’s programs in South Sudan and donor approval of personnel. This position is anticipated to start in August/September 2015.

Background

UNDP Moldova Programme 'Improving the Quality of Moldovan Democracy through Electoral and Parliamentary Support' (further referred to as 'Programme') is a multi-year institutional development project that aims to support the institutional consolidation of the Moldovan Parliament and Moldovan Central Electoral Commission (CEC) towards their increased transparency, accountability and efficiency.

Context

This is a Home-based position with 3 missions to Chisinau, Moldova. The selected candidate is expected to start on May 5^th 2015 and the duration of the initial contract is May-October, 2015 (55 working days).

The National Democratic Institute for International Affairs (NDI) seeks a seasoned Program Manager/Senior Program Manager with strong staff and program management and writing skills to support the Institute’s democratic development programs in Southern Africa, particularly Botswana, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Experience managing USAID funded programs is highly desirable. This position will report to the Southern and East Africa Regional Director and Deputy Director, and is based in Washington, D.C.

The WANA programme was launched in 2011 after the revolutions that swept many countries in the region.  Since that time 10 countries in the region have amended, replaced or reconsidered their constitutional frameworks.  In these countries, some progress has been made in the struggle for democratization, however significant challenges remain.   International IDEA continues to support constitution building across the region through the provision of support to constituent assemblies, members of the legal community, academics and others.

The International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance — International IDEA is an intergovernmental organization that supports sustainable democracy worldwide. Its objective is to strengthen democratic institutions and processes. International IDEA acts as a catalyst for democracy building by providing knowledge resources, policy proposals and supporting democratic reforms in response to specific national requests. It works together with policy makers, governments, UN organizations and agencies and regional organizations engaged in the field of democracy building.
