Filipina-led initiative launches new platform to help more women lead in Southeast Asia

Even as more women across Southeast Asia step into visible roles in business, government, and civil society, many still struggle to break into positions of real influence.

That leadership gap took center stage at a recently-held Filipina-led gathering held during the 70th Session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) in New York, where organizers officially launched HERDD, a new platform designed to help more women in the region rise, lead, and be finally be heard.

Co-presented by HERDD, Women’s Federation for World Peace International (WFWPI), and Women of the World (WOW) Coaching, the event brought together voices from diplomacy, development, business, and advocacy to talk about the barriers women still face — and what it will take to move from conversation to action.

Held at the Heidrick & Struggles office in New York, the forum tackled issues that continue to shape women’s advancement, including economic participation, climate justice, and access to justice in leadership.
