UN holds Event on Women's Empowerment

The President of the UN General Assembly, Maria Fernanda Espinosa, is holding this Thursday her latest informal High-Level Panel: Women in Power - Call to Action and Women Leaders - Voices for Change and Inclusion: Joining Forces and Redoubling Efforts to Achieve Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment for All.
The event will be attended by the President-elect of the UN General Assembly, Nigerian diplomat Tijjani Muhammad-Bande, the Executive Director of UN Women, Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka; as well as Susana Malcorra, from Women Leaders - Voices for Change and Inclusion.
The high-ranking officials are debating today on the collective commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment, Espinosa live-tweeted.
'We have come a long way regarding #GenderEquality & women's leadership, but we cannot take this for granted,' she tweeted.
Women leaders from all over the world were invited to participate in the event, who form part of a group aimed at promoting women's empowerment headed by former New Zealand prime minister Helen Clark.
This group also includes the former minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria, Irina Bokova, and the former minister of Foreign Affairs of Argentina, Susana Malcorra.
