Cameron promises to do more to promote female ministers, UK

Mr Cameron has been criticised because only four full members of his Cabinet are women. Before the last election, he pledged to make sure one third of all his ministers are female, a target he has missed.

When Lady Thatcher became Prime Minister in 1979, barely three per cent of MPs were women. Today, the figure is 22 per cent.
