The women battling coronavirus at the White House

At first, there were no women. When President Donald Trump announced the coronavirus task force, it was made up entirely of men. That is pretty shocking for a team of experts in health care, a field where women comprise nearly 80 percent of the workforce.

But the task force has had a second wave, and, now, a few women are emerging at the head of the White House’s coronavirus response. I hopped on the phone with the tireless Joanne Kenen, POLITICO’s executive health care editor, to talk about them. Here’s what she told me.
