The newly elected president of Maldives announced that 6 women will be part of the newest cabinet of Maldives. This marks the first time that the cabinet holds almost an equivalent number of women in the Maldives.

The country will be able to witness the success that the female ministers bring, and henceforth, there will be more open doors for the coming generations of women to succeed in the professional industry. This will result in the eradicatement of the superstitious beliefs that women cannot do as well as men and this will be an inspiration for future generations who are interested in partaking in the political field.

This time, Maldives also celebrates its first female defence minister, Ms Mariya Ahmed Didi and this is a great feat for the women of Maldives. In addition to this, the newly formed ministry of heritage also will be lead by the female minister, Ms Yumna Maumoon. The other female ministers include Ms Shidhatha for Minister of Gender and Health, Ms Athifa Shukoor for Minister of Housing and Infrastructure, Ms Zaha for Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture and Dr Aishath Ali for Minister of Education.
