Senate elections in Egypt: 91 women compete for individual seats with 20 constituencies

In the fierce competition for individual seats in the Senate elections, women compete for 91 seats in 20 electoral districts nationwide, out of 787 candidatesin Cairo Governorate.
Alexandria Governoraterankssecond in terms of the number of female candidates, with 12 female candidates, followed byQalyubia Governorate with 9 female candidates.
In the sixth rank, the Sharkia and Qena governorates come with 5 women, followed by Luxor Governorate with 4 women, then BeniSuef with 3 women, and Menoufiawith two women.One woman competes in each of Dakahlia, Damietta, Ismailia, Suez, North Sinai, New Valley, and Sohag.
Women's competition for individual seats comes in light of the guaranteed minimum number of seats for women in the Senate, in accordance with the Senate law of 30 seats.
